Why we weren't online: the word "vagina"

Dear Friends of the Daily Funnies:

As you may have noticed, the Daily Funnies were not available on our site for the last 2 days.

The absence was because Google shut us down over the word "vagina" in the Funny or Die video we posted on Monday.

Apparently, one reader didn't like the word "vagina" and complained to Google.  That's all it took.

Google never contacted us and didn't provide us any way to appeal.  We finally got through to Google, and the page was restored.

The Daily Funnies were started after some newspapers censored Doonesbury.  We decided to start this service as a way to bypass newspapers and other media who would censor "controversial" comics.  We never thought that Google would censor us when we decided to use their Blogger service.

And we never thought that the word "vagina" was controversial.  But the fear of women's bodies,  as embodied in the Trump and Cruz campaigns, is powerful.  Even among our subscribers.

We will continue to use Blogger until we can find a more permanent site that we can control.

In the meantime, please enjoy our Daily Funnies, uncensored, irreverent and unabashedly progressive.

You can contribute to the uncensored Daily Funnies here.
